This is an introductory workshop which will include:
Introduction to Arabic Percussion, focusing on Arabic Tabla, Riq and Zills. This will combine a short basic introduction to playing the above Arabic Instruments.
We will then move on to learning some basic Arabic Rhythms.

Arabic percussion and understanding Arabic rhythm is invaluable to the dancer and choreographer of Middle Eastern Dance styles. Understanding the rhythms, time signatures and even the names of Arabic rhythms can help to inform your dance practice and enhance choreography and knowledge.
This workshop is an introduction with a view to regular classes and the possibility of forming an Arabic Percussion Ensemble. Please Note: Everyone Welcome regardless of ongoing interest.
Please bring a drum, tambourine (with Skin) or Zills if you have them.
There will also be some instruments available to borrow on the day.
